Frequently Asked Questions
What type of cases does Lena Law handle
We handle personal injury cases that include car accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, slip, trip and falls, dog bites, brain injuries, tenant habitability cases, and other serious injury claims.
What makes your firm different?
We give every client personal attention — you’re not passed off to a call center or case manager. From your free consultation through resolution, Lena is accessible, responsive, and focused on getting you the outcome you deserve.
How much does it cost to hire Lena Law, and do I pay anything upfront?
You do not pay anything upfront to hire us. We offer a free, confidential consultation to review your case, and if we take it, we work on a contingency fee basis — meaning we only get paid a percentage of your settlement, award or verdict if we win. There are no hidden fees or costs. If there’s no recovery, you owe us nothing.
What should I do immediately after a collision?
Seek medical attention right away, even if you feel fine — some injuries take time to show up. Then document the scene with photos, get contact information from witnesses, and contact an attorney before speaking with any insurance company.
Do I have a case?
The best way to find out if you have a case is by calling us for a free consultation. We review the facts, potential insurance coverage and give an honest assessment of the options available to you.
What is the Process at Lena Law
After a free initial confidential consultation, if retained, we take your case on a contingency basis—meaning if we don’t secure a settlement, you do not pay attorneys’ fees.
Next, we handle all the details of your property damage and injury claim so long as there is appropriate insurance coverage so that you can focus on your recovery from your injuries. We fight for the maximum compensation to recover money for your medical treatment, lost earnings, and pain and suffering.
Once we reach a favorable resolution, you receive a net settlement check from the gross recovery/settlement. If needed, a lawsuit is filed on your behalf.
Should I talk to the insurance adjuster before hiring an attorney?
We recommend not speaking to any insurance company or adjuster until you have spoken to an attorney. Insurance adjusters work for the insurance company, not for you, and anything you say can be used against you, or to reduce your settlement. Let your attorney handle those conversations. The first call should be to your attorney before contacting any insurance company.
How long do I have to file a claim?
In California, you generally have two years from the date of the collision to file a personal injury lawsuit. Some cases have shorter deadlines, so it’s best to speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
What is my case worth?
Every case is different. Value depends on factors like the severity of your injuries, medical treatment, care and expenses, lost wages, and how the collision has affected your life.
How long will my case take to resolve?
It varies. Some cases settle in a few months, while others — especially those that go to arbitration or trial — can take a year or longer. We’ll keep you informed at every stage.
What if the other driver doesn't have insurance?
You may still have options through your own uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. We can review your policy and help you pursue the compensation you’re entitled to.
Will my case go to trial?
Most personal injury cases settle before trial. We prepare every case as if it will go to trial, which puts us in the strongest position to negotiate a fair settlement — but we’re ready to litigate if that’s what it takes.
What types of compensation can I recover?
Depending on your case, you may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and property damage, among other losses.
